traffic generationOne of the first steps to building easy traffic, is finding a great domain.  You want to find a domain that adequately reflects what your site is going to focus on.  It is also a great advantage to get a domain that will contain the primary keyword (or keywords) that you intend to use in your marketing and SEO.  In other words, try to get a domain that includes the keywords people will likely use as they search for your topic.

A lot of new marketers make the mistake of picking a cutesy name that really has no keyword significance.  Right out of the gate they are at a disadvantage in driving visitors to their site because their targeted audience won’t find them using the typical search terms for their niche.  Now, if you have excellent traffic generation and marketing skills that may not be a huge problem (see twitter).

But… this article is primarily focused on assisting those who really want all the help they can get on building a solid easy traffic funnel.  If that’s you, start out right and get a domain that is logical for your specific niche.  In other words, if your site is going to be on nutrition – it makes good sense to try and acquire a domain that contains the word “nutrition”.

Obviously, the likely intent for putting up a website in the first place is to generate traffic.  You want visitors, and most importantly – you want visitors who are targeted and specifically interested in your site topic.  After all, if you are hoping to generate prospects, you need to find people who share your passion.

I found a great (web-based and totally free) domain tool that will help you in finding the perfect domain for your new site.  This has become my absolute favorite tool in my traffic building arsenal.

The tool not only shows available domains using my specific keyword, it also shows me the traffic I can expect to achieve from the keyword I choose.  It also helps identify the level of competition within the niche.

It’s a great resource.  Check it out and leave a comment on what you think.
