O.J. will send you prospects!
September 17, 2007 by Joseph
Well, O.J. is creating another news drama and people are once-again fueling the news media to give us more. For some reason, we can’t seem to get enough of this guy. It’s much like passing a wreck on the road - we are drawn to see the tragedy. The truth is, [tag-tec]O.J. can bring you prospects[/tag-tec].
While I am personally sickened by the O.J. garbage (and most of the other news that is shared by news sources), I do recognize that there is an opportunity to utilize news for generating traffic. Basically, we can utilize the feeding frenzy surrounding current events to draw traffic to our site(s). The strategy is certainly not without it’s flaws.
The strategy involves writing commentaries, or blog posts, on the subject that is currently a hot news item. I’ve experienced the interest from readers who are looking for more information on the topic. They see the blog post through an rss feed or search engine placement, and just have to come by to read what my commentary has to say.
Obviously, I get a traffic boost, but… unless my blog theme is relative to the hot news item, the traffic is not targeted to my niche. For marketers of a particular niche, that’s not a good thing. If site owners are just looking for an increase in traffic, it may be okay.
So, I’m not really a big fan of the practice when I’m looking to get quality [tag-ice]targeted prospects[/tag-ice] to my opportunity. As a Network Marketer, I’m not just looking for bodies - I want quality people who are ready to build a business.
If you are interested in just getting more traffic, writing on current events may be a positive thing for you. By the way, it is possible to write on current news that can also be targeted to your particular niche. You just may need to think creatively on how to tie the two together.
If you are trying to target your traffic to a particular visitor, consider the content relevancy before engaging in a campaign to draw traffic from the news.
